The Art of Thoughtful Gifting

As a professional wedding planner and a stationery designer, I’ve created a lot of curated gifts for clients to give their wedding parties, families, and guests. It’s honestly one of my favorite things to create! You don’t have to create huge and expensive over-the-top gift baskets in order to show your loved ones how much you care about all the time and resources they’ve put into being a part of your wedding day. I have a few rules for wedding gifts and favors to help you gift thoughtfully:

Gifts should be Personal- Whatever the size of the gift or the occasion, it should reflect your style, the tone of the event, and most importantly, the recipient. The more personalized, the better and more memorable. It can be as simple as a tag with their name on it or a personal thank you note. I hate to break it to you, as cute as they are in pictures, your wedding party won’t be wearing the “Bride Tribe” tee again. But they WILL probably cherish that custom etched bottle of rosé whit their name on it.

Gifts should be Edible- OK, not always but hear me out on this one- especially out of town guests can’t tow a bunch of items home. They’ve probably got their luggage just set, so gift them something they can enjoy in their hotel room. It’s always better to gift something delicious that your guests will enjoy and remember than trying to come up with some little favor that will sit in a drawer or end up in the donation pile (sorry).

Gifts should be Local or Charitable- Even some of my examples here have items we’ve picked up from major retailers, but you’ll also see many fair-trade, sustainable, eco-friendly, and local treasures. Natural honeys, chocolate, or baked goods can be easily and affordably sourced right in your community. Being thoughtful about the impact our whole industry has on the environment and our communities will never go out of style.

At Rock Scissors Paperie, I design everything from packaging, stationery inserts, to even sometimes the products themselves. We’ve done as simple as a note on beautiful stationery and as grand as personalized gift baskets. I live to create gifts your guests will adore!
